Mere coapte – Baked apples

I love those treats. It’s simple to make and delicious, can be served simple, with whipped cream or with ice cream. I bake those in large muffin papers so the juice stay in the apple.

Ingredients per person:

  • 2 apples
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • vanilla essence
  • 75 g nuts/almonds
  • cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons sultanas
  • 2 teaspoons  butter

Preaheat the oven to 185 degrees celsius. Wash and core the apples. Grease a baking pan and put the apples in muffin papers.

Grind the nuts and mix with sugar,vanilla essence, a pinch of cinnamon and the sultanas. Fill the holes in the apples with this mixture. Add a teaspoon of butter on top of each apple. Bake for 30 minutes. Serve warm.

    Can you possibly tell us when this recipe is made? Is it made for any holidays?

    1. I make those baked apples from around October until late spring. The summer apples are too small and delicate for being baked. But you can make this any time of the year. I love baking those as treats for guests as I can prepare in advance and just bake when the guests arrive.
